Legislation aims to protect residents from housing discrimination; landlords say details of housing voucher program are big issue
New legislation approved this week by the city of Dayton prohibits landlords and property owners from refusing to rent or lease housing to prospective tenants based on how they pay for the housing units.
Supporters say this will help people who unfairly face discrimination because they receive Section 8 housing vouchers, child support, alimony or disability, Social Security or veterans’ benefits.
