A bipartisan value: Most Americans support school integration – and this is true across racial, socioeconomic, and partisan divides. A new fact sheet from NCSD summarizes findings from three recent integration polls and offers key takeaways and sample messages to communicate the findings.
Funding flexibility for housing vouchers: The Senate HUD appropriations bill for 2025 includes support for a pilot program allowing the use of Section 8 funds for move-related payments (like security deposits and apartment holding fees) for a “limited number” of PHAs. PRRAC and our allies have been advocating for this type of change for the last couple of years, and even though it will not be universally applied yet, this is an important step forward and we are optimistic that this provision will be included in the final 2025 bill (expected sometime after the November election).
Thanks to our amazing summer interns: Law and policy interns John Square III (Howard Law), Peter Baron (Georgetown Law), and policy intern Mattie Isaac (Princeton), along with the NCSD’s policy interns Adam McPhail, Margo Pedersen, and Nisa Quarles (read their bios here). Needless to say, we’ve had a very productive summer!
