New Mobility Works executive director: Welcome to Valerie Rosenberg, who will be leading the next phase of the Mobility Works technical assistance collaborative. Mobility Works will continue to offer training, coaching, program development, grant-writing, opportunity mapping, program evaluation and other technical assistance for public housing agencies and non-profits seeking to build or expand housing mobility programs. “Building from the positive energy of last fall’s National Conference on Housing Mobility, we are thrilled to welcome Valerie,” said Adria Crutchfield, Chair of the Mobility Works Board of Directors. “Valerie brings an entrepreneurial spirit and deep commitment to those living in assisted housing to this work and my board colleagues and I are excited for her to begin engaging with housing providers across the country.”
Magnet Schools NOFA: The new Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) funding notice was released last week in the Federal Register, and it includes some great provisions – a strong focus on supporting voluntary or mandatory desegregation plans, encouraging inter-district and whole school magnets, and coordination with housing and transportation agencies – all priorities of NCSD and PRRAC. We were particularly excited to see that the NOFA expressly incorporates our proposal to link MSAP to HUD’s public housing redevelopment programs, and we are hopeful that there will be some applications that include local housing authorities in this next round!
